We like to feature all our animals, after viewing our pets please come out to the shelter and meet them. We are located at 112 Johnston Road, just north of Searcy, Arkansas.

Adopting a friend
Our adoption procedure is relatively quick and painless! We talk to potential adopters so that we can find the right animal that fits their family and lifestyle. After filling out a few forms and discussion of your pets needs and vet care the adoption is complete. Our adoption fee is $40 for both dogs and cats regardless if they have been spayed or neutered. We try to ensure that every animal that leaves the shelter is spayed or neutered, sometimes due to an animal's young age or time restraints this can not happen. In these cases the new owners are provided with a $30 spay/neuter certificate good with any vet in our area. We ask that you use the certificates in a timely manner as we do follow up on all our certificates. Every animal that leaves our shelter is current on all shots except Rabies as this must be given at a Vets office. If you are adopting a pet and you are a renter you must complete a Renters Permission Form. Adoptions can NOT be completed over the phone. We require you to come in person to the shelter to complete paperwork for your pet. We can not accept any Check numbered under 500, nor can we accept any credit cards.Who We Are
The Humane Society of Searcy was founded in 1991 by a small group of dedicated animal lovers. Thanks to the extensive efforts of our founders, our animal shelter has been able to have paid workers to care for the animals in addition to the volunteers. Working hand in hand with the city of Searcy and its Animal Control Officers, the Humane Society provides a safe haven for the homeless and reunites lost dogs or cats with their owners. We try to educate the public on the importance of good veterinary care and the value of spaying and neutering. We are governed by an eleven member board and have two veterinarians on our board that make regular visits to the shelter.Thank You
We would like to say thank you to all of our supporters and volunteers who help us in many ways. We also thank Purina and the Very Best Pet Network for our display board. This enables us to display our pet pictures at our local Wal-Mart and Harps store. Thank you to TV 3 for filming our Pet of the Week program.News
We have a new Thrift Store building we call the "Barkin' Barn" located at 108 N. Gum St.. We are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. We always have a good variety of items for sale at prices you have to see to believe. We welcome donated items. All proceeds from the Barkin' Barn go directly to the support and care of our animals. Each week we do a Pet of the Week show that White County Cable and Channel 6 broadcast for us. Please check your local listings for show times.
Want to Help?
We always need volunteers at the shelter to walk the dogs and to help in other ways. Volunteers over the age of 14 can come out any day after 1 p.m. to help. We collect aluminum cans to recycle and yard sale items for the Barkin' Barn. We can always use towels, blankets, cat litter, bleach and toys for use at the shelter. We collect Sexton Food and Food King receipts for reimbursements. Purina gives us coupons when we send in the weight circles off their pet food bags. Any of these items can be brought to the shelter or you can mail receipts, weight circles or donations to P.O. Box 8242, Searcy, AR 72145. All proceeds from fundraisers, donations and the Barkin' Barn go towards the care and daily upkeep of our animals. Donations given to the shelter are tax-deductible, please contact the shelter for more information. Can't adopt right now? Why not get involved with the Buddy Plan. The Buddy Plan makes it possible for more of our animals to be adopted. You can help by sponsoring an animal and paying its adoption fee. When someone adopts an animal and is willing to also adopt a "Buddy" for their pet , they get both animals for only one adoption fee. The best thing you can do is help control our pet population.~PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!~
Come Visit Us!
We are located just North of Searcy, Arkansas on Johnston Road. Take Main Street north through town until you get to Johnston Road. Take a left and we are about one block down on the right. If you are coming to Searcy via the intersate exit 42 will put you on Main Street. We are open to the public 7 days a week Mondays from 3- 5 PM and Tues. to Sunday from 1 - 5 PM.
